Jack-o-Lanterns

on October 25, 2010

We spent the activity part of our FHE carving our pumpkins tonight.
It was fun and didn’t really take that much time. The kids enjoyed it, even Vincent. Elizabeth and Olivia were the artists and Andy and I did the carving. All three kids helped pull the seeds and guts out of the pumpkin.
Andy helped Vincent and Elizabeth with their pumpkin. Vincent came to the pumpkin patch to pick a pumpkin while Elizabeth was at school, so I told her they could share one. If I would have known that his pumpkin would only cost $1.17, I would have picked one up for her to have her own too.Vincent even pulled some of the seeds out. He likes wearing his apron. (Thanks, Tina. It’s great to have one his size that’s not pink.)I helped Olivia with her pumpkin. She picked this tiny one at the pumpkin patch last week. Our completed jack-o-lantern without the lantern part.We don’t normally even carve them. We just let them sit there until after Halloween and then throw them out, except for five years ago when I put the pumpkin on top of the fridge to keep it out of Elizabeth’s reach and it rotted on top and stunk up the whole house. It had to be thrown out early.
Note: The top of the fridge gets a little too warm for pumpkins. Yuck.
I’m working on keeping my blog posts shorter and not documenting everything we do. Maybe then people will feel like commenting??? =)

I haven't been commenting on anyone's posts for a while. I've barely had enough time to keep my blog updated. It's crazy. We still haven't carved our pumpkins! We just barely picked them out last night for FHE. I think we'll do the same thing you guys did, having the kids design and the parents cut.

Cute Pumpkins and kids, Thanks for documenting! It's a good habit, even if you don't get comments…
