C.A.R.E.S. Award

on June 4, 2012
I got an exciting email last week requesting my presence at the last assembly of the school year which was today.
Elizabeth’s teacher chose her to be the recipient of the C.A.R.E.S. award for her class.
This afternoon we went to the assembly and applauded for her (and a million other awards that kids earned or had drawings for.  We have a fun school!)
Elizabeth is on the right side second row from the back.

Elizabeth with her teacher this year. Her teacher told her that when she was choosing, she thought of her first.  C.A.R.E.S. stands for Cooperation, Attitude, Respect, Effort, and Safety and they focus on each one throughout the year and then recognize one student from each class who displays that behavior and then an overall winner at the end of the year.

Elizabeth with the principal. (See the bike in the background there?  A first grader from our ward won it in the reading ticket drawing!  Her mom and grandparents happened to be there already because her sister and her got a few other awards too!)

Elizabeth has done so well in her classes, but has been sad (ie:jealous) ever since Olivia got an award at her very first assembly ever.
Also on our very busy Monday, I dropped the girls off at school, came home and read my scriptures and got ready for the day while Abby took an hour nap, helped in Olivia’s classroom (and they gave me a thank you note they all signed and some lotion for helping their class), stopped by two friend’s houses to have them download the pictures from the field day that I put on a CD, came home and changed into pants since it was rainy and I wore capris thinking the rain would stop soon, went to a baby shower for one of my former MiaMaids, went to the assembly, picked up the girls, came home for a minute, took Olivia to ballet, napped in the car since Abby was too loud and tired (no she didn’t sleep!), picked up a friend’s daughter and took her to tap since I needed to drop off a CD to her as well, picked up Olivia, went home, made Abby take a nap, heated some quick leftover dinner, went to a graduation party for a girl who used to be in our ward, took a CD to a cousin, and then a graduation present to Andy’s cousin who graduated.  Then we came home (a few of them fell asleep in the car) and read scriptures and put them to bed.
Wheww!  What a busy day!  I always think that the next week will be less busy and it never seems to happen.
Also, Elizabeth came up to me and told me that one of her “eggs was bleeding” when she went to the bathroom at school today, so we had to have a little chat and special tutorial.
Wow, she’s young!  No wonder she’s been so stinky for the last year though!  (I was young too, just shy of 12, but she’s not even 9 1/2 yet!)
Tomorrow, I’m staying home most of the day and I’m going to enjoy it! Well, if babysitting, RS Presidency visit, cleaning, and making phone calls is enjoyable.  I think so!
